Topic: RH450 not loud enough?

I have the amp and so does a friend of mine. He recently told me he is maxed out on the volume to compete with his band. I couldn't believe it. I've never had an issue with volume on the amp and I play with 2 gits, keys and a drummer. Has anybody ever had this thought as well?

I kind of told him he's gotta have the amp set wrong. I just don't see that is possible with any band.

BTW, his cabs are a RS10 and RS212.

Hi joeglow,
did your friend set the preset level properly? As I have read some times and in different forums this was the reason for complaints about the volume.

Re: RH450 not loud enough?

I tried to explain that to him. I haven't had to mess with doing that since I first got it but if I recall correctly, keeping the Master Volume at 0, turn the gain until the red light comes on and then back off a little bit, then raise the master volume. It's been a while since I did this and can't remember the procedure 100%.

Re: RH450 not loud enough?

Re read your manual.. It will tell you how to set the input level.
You should actually do this with every different bass you plug in the amp.

I have never experienced this amp being unable to keep up with any group I have played with.
Set correctly this head rocks with the loudest of them and barely  gets warm.

Re: RH450 not loud enough?

I have had this issue as well. Have you got an active bass? My Fender Jazz was running low on the battery level - after changing them, it has boosted the volume considerably. I do agree, though, that it doesn't 'feel' like it;s giving 450 watts...
