Topic: G natural noise / rauschen

Hi,
i put my guitar (Highlander pickup) through the G Natural (version 1.04) and then into an AER 60 amp. I can´t go on with that noise floor!
What´s wrong? Any ideas?

Hallo,
ich schliesse meine Gitarre (highlander pickp) an das G Natural (version 1.04) an und gehe dann in einen AER 60. Mit dem Grundrauschen ist das unbrauchbar für mich. Habt ihr irgendwelche Ideen?

Thanks,
Thorsten

Possible ground/earth loop perhaps. What does the noise sound like.

Re: G natural noise / rauschen

It is an constant noise. sound like too much gain...
The Noisegate makes it better, but not perfect.

Re: G natural noise / rauschen

Hi ,

I  purchased a G Natural on 24th Dec.10 and this week set it up.I have a Marshall Acoustic 100W amp and using a Taylor 410. I have new leads and when I set it up there is an almighty hiss. The sounds itself are good but what's the point of having an ocean of hiss overiding everything else.I have tried moving the amp, changing the leads, changing the electrical socket locations i.e. plugging them in, in separate locations.Used different guitars, 2 Ovations but same problem. When I plug guitars directly in to the amp they are as quiet as can be.
I took the TC Natural back to the shop today and downloaded the latest software as it was hissing in their amp too. It has made no difference as the hiss is still there. The shop itself is well known and they admit they have no training with this product. I have owned many effects over the years and never had this problem except in the seventees.I really don't think you should have to lower the output of any product less than 0db as it should work.It does not seem to make any difference any way except by lowering the dynamic range. The comp makes it worse.I've had enough it's going back to the shop tomorrow for a refund.I am totally disappointed as the effects seem to be lovely but an audience is not going to put up with the sound of the atlantic ocean overhead or on a record.

Frustrating as heck, isn't it?

Have you downloaded the updated manual that gives revised instructions for gain setting?

Re: G natural noise / rauschen

I'm also feeling a bit frustrated at the hiss, and have found myself wondering if I shouldmn't just forget the G Natural and go back to my previous array of pedals.
The unit looks gorgeous and I'd love to see it working properly, but I can't set the gain levels either, I never get to see the 0 or I that the manual said would appear when strumming my guitar.
Will update the firmware today, hope it solves the issues. I'd love to love my G-Nat.

Re: G natural noise / rauschen

Ok, so I upgraded to version 1.04 - when setting the gain levels I still cannot see the 0 or I that the manual said I'd see when strumming the guitar.
Regarding the noise levels, slight improvement with 1.04.

Re: G natural noise / rauschen

The hissing is really a problem, especially with the compression effect. I've found two things helpful.

First I had to go down with the Output Level. Noise Gate did not work for me because it changes the nature of the sound too much.

Second I've found that it depends heavily on the whole electric installation in the place where your G-Natural is plugged in. In the store where I've bought it, it was terrible. At home I have hardly any noise. In our bandroom it's quite strong. And in the place where I have my gigs it's okay as well.

Does this help?
