Hello,

My Konnekt 6 with software finally came in yesterday. However, after a long, tiring & frustrating evening, I still could not manage to install the TC near software.
This goes for both the original software driver as supplied on the original DVD (version 2.2.1?) and the latest software driver to be downloaded from the TC Electronics website.

After downloading & unpacking the zip file, the installer takes over. However, in the very beginning of the installation process the following error message is being displayed.
"Fatal error" ; "Installation ended prematurely because of an error".

I've tried to install as both Administrator and normal user, no success however. Also starting up in Save Mode did not help. The Cubase software could be installed however without problems. The connection itself between the PC and Konnekt 6 (via firewire) seems to OK, since the PC displayed the window "New hardware found".

My system :

Acer Travelmate 7520, AMD Athlon 64*2 Dual Core TK-53
1,7GHz, 2*256kB L2 Cache
2 Gb DDR-2 memory
Vista Home Premium SP-2

Did you read the manual first?

"The software MUST be installed before connecting the Konnekt" Page 6

Also suggest you have the latest .net framework as in my experience TC Near works better with this updated.

Yes, I did read the manual. What I did was connecting the Desktop 6 after the driver installation failed, just to see if the firewire connection worked.
(and it did).

In the mean time I managed to get the software installed. This might be a solution for everyone who has similar problems.

I downloaded the latest driver from the TC's website onto an USB stick using my (XP) PC at work.
Furthermore I followed the advice I read on this forum & performed the "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" command using cmd from the command prompt line.
I got the message that vbscript.dll was registered but could not be added to some sort of library (whatever that means).
After registering the .dll file I used the .exe file on the USB stick to install the TC near software, and that (finally) worked ;-)

What do you mean with the "latest .net framework" & how to get this?
Could you please explain a bit further? Thanks.

Furthermore, I still cannot open the Spike option in the TC near folder though due to certain rights issues.
Does anybody know how to increase this level of "rights"? I thought I already was an administrator. It appeares however, that I still do not have full access to
my computer. For the record, I'm using Vista 32 bit, Service Pack 2, fully updated.

.NET Framework can be updated by using windows update tool. This is an environment for applications written in .NET, but does it really accord with konnekt installer?

I suggest you to manually remove all registry keys which contains "konnekt" or "asio" before you install konnekt drivers. You can try CC Cleaner (free application) to clean your registry, it works preety cool at Vista.

You can also try to create a new user account (with Admin entitlements) and try to install these drivers from this new account.

Thanks for this topic, I am "glad" that I´m not alone, I´ve been trying unsuccesfully to install my Konnekt8 since I upgraded to W7 on February ...

I tried all sugestions posted here at forum:
- registrd vbscript
- run it in passive mode (http://forum.tcelectronic.com/viewtopic.php?id=4482)
- clean registry
- install .NET framework
- install in a new account
- install older versions of software (I can only install version 1.03 but it needs me to upgrade the firmware and when I do so it displays me "upgrade failed" ...)

and I get always the same message: Installation ended prematurely because of an error.

It seems I gotta reinstall my OS and will hope ...

My system:
Acer Extensa 5610, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1,7GHz
1 GB DDR II
Windows 7 Home Premium (32 bit) - (and I am an administrator smile)

you can try old method, but I haven't test it:

uninstall all drivers, connect konnekt (:D), manually update drivers for new device. then, when it is manually installed, try to run installer.

or make a additional one user in system, give him admin's rights and try to install from this new account. you can also try to install drivers from safe mode (F8 before windows starts, and select safe mode) and then run system normally

Manually drivers update didn´t solve anything, but the installation from a new account with admin rights really did !!! I probably tried it before as a standard user (I know, it´s the most common mistake).

Similiar issue on my Vista x86 and x64 with 2.4.1 verson, but fortunally the 2.2.1 works well on Vista x86 and the 2.4.1 operates well in Win7 Ultimate.
I can start the panel with my k6 off. When I turned it on, it crashes.

The fact is: Nothing appeared after .Net Framework 4.0 installed...

I've counted that 6 issues with crashing are accorded to the .NET Framework 4.0.
Pls try to uninstall drivers and uninstall .NET Framework completly. Then, try to install .NET Framework 2.0. Also, you can try to install Konnekt's drivers from another user account (with Admin's entitlements).
