Mike, could you update us on the Wah Wah problem with the Killdry?   I was hoping this official release would have corrected that..  Thanks!

I have a simular issue, when trying to sync the redhot presets to the G system, it locks up after every preset. So I cannot sync whole banks at once. What can I do to fix this?

Kev G, thanks for the advice, this was indeed the case.
I now manually copied one preset to all empty ones and then I could sync the red hot presets at once without locking up.

Unfortunately not. When upgrading, you flush all of the existing memory, which resides in one, nonvolatile RAM-chip. Its just like reinstalling the operating system on your PC, all user-data are overwritten and lost.

Interesting problem:

I upgraded to 4.02 and tried sending all the "red" presets to my gsys.  The upgrade went fine.  I loaded the red preset file, selected all presets (right click->select all) and sent all the selected presets to the gsys.  So far so good.  I got a nice progress bar for everything and as each preset got synced it got unselected in the UI.

However, once everything was done, not a single preset had actually made it to the gsys.  Only the presets that were there before were there and none of the new ones.  Has anyone seen this?

If I open a preset (double click) and the sync only that preset, then it gets sent to the gsys correctly.

hmmm i guess i just took TCs statement that "your presets shouldnt be deleted" at face value...

another questions

is there an easy way to copy specific effects from some presets to another?? note i dont mean copying the whole preset from one location to another but only specific effects within that preset to another preset...for example a particular chorus from 10-1 to say 12-1

also on that note, when copying effects from one reset to another i have noticed that the gsystem doesnt copy across expression pedal settings for that effects, so for example if you tell your expression pedal to manipulate the feedback on an effect when you copy it that command is lost and you have to set it up again, is there a way to avoid this?

The first link is available by clicking "Guitar" on the front page, and then clicking on the G System Software 4.02 banner.

hey-- I was using the last beta from some time ago.  It is R 1737.  Is this new one any different?  Same with the editor...I have 2.0 and the date is 12-2009.

Yes - the official, non-beta releases for both the editor and the firmware are on the G-System Downloads page at the main TC Web site.

Even if you acquired the last betas in December, you should STILL go ahead and upgrade to the real releases - acquired directly from the TC site.

You should also note that if you were on the beta program, and you EVER had the G lock up when trying to load a bad preset, you should do the following:

1) Upgrade the G firmware.
2) Install the new editor
3) Start the editor and let it initialize
    - at which point it will have loaded the entire G Configuration into the editor.
4) SAVE your current G-System Configuration to an SQS file
5) Close the editor
6) Do "Clear Bank" on the Utility Menu
7) Start the editor and let it initialize
8) Load the SQS file that you saved in step 4
9) Go to the banks view
10) press the "Sync All" button at the bottom of the screen.

This ensures that the patches you have in the G-System are "clean" according to the current official release, and that there is no "garbage" floating around from prior beta bugs.

Did the firmware upgrade work?

1) You MUST completely uninstall the prior version of the editor before installing the new one.

2) Are you SURE that you did "clear bank" (that's Edit>Menu>Enter>[Utility]>Enter>[Clear Bank]>Enter>[YES]>Enter>Edit>Edit)

Individually deleting presets to clear them out if one was bad will NOT fix the problem. Using the editor to remove banks manually will NOT fix your problem either. You MUST use the "clear bank" command in the utility menu. Even if your user banks are all empty, you should STILL use the clear bank command in the utility menu after you upgrade if you have EVER had the betas or if you are having problems transferring banks between the editor and the G.

3) I had a brand-new, fresh-from-the-factory, still-sealed-in-the-plastic-bag g-system with the same issue. I upgraded the firmware fine and the editor started up fine - but bank transfers would randomly lock up the G-System. I did clear system and clear bank on the utility menu and now everything works perfectly on that box too. TC support is aware of this. I sent them an e-mail early this week.

The point here is, if your G-System firmware upgrade went off without a hitch, but you are having lockup troubles when doing the bank transfers between the editor and the G, then the Clear Bank command on the utility menu is an extremely-important part of solving the problem.

Wow, I had assumed that since it was the same R1737 release, I did not need to download again and all that.

I could not do a full bank sync without the G freezing.  It would even freeze when syncing one preset sometimes.

I did all ten steps mentioned above, and synced the whole user bank in one click smoothly!
