Topic: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

There's been a number of feature requests in various threads and while we obviously can't promise that a suggestion will make to a firmware release and I figured it would be a good idea to gather them all in one spot. To start it off, I've copied some great suggestions gbtommasi posted in the "What Routing Are You Using?" thread:

"... it would be great to decide wether you have mod before or after delay, say, or even after reverb for those 'landscape' ambient guitar sounds.
Even without going that complex, it would also be very useful if i could assign a % of reverb to delayrepeats when using parallel or semi parallel mode, so that they could 'sit' more nicely in reverb's ambience. It would sound more 'natural'.

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

Feature requests:

1. It would be great to be able to see the tuner while playing, like with the G-Major and G-Force. I miss this from my other TC gear...

2. MODULATION DELAY. It would be great to be able to set a chorus rate and depth to just the repeat notes of a delay signal.

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

Any chance of synth sounds similar to the Axe FX? They have some sounds where you get the guitar as well as string type swells.
Also a little better tuner for the bass. Not a hi priority on that one though.
One more, would it be possible to have the volume and expression pedals control parameters on not only the G but also on preamps? Right now the G only controls program changes. That one would be real nice.

ha! this is a very dangerous thread Tore, you know musicians' fantasy is unlimited!

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

I don't have a G-System yet, but I will buy one in the next weeks and I studied the manual a little.
I think a parameter patch/global in the menu for setting up and customize the footswitches will make the G-System even more flexible.
For example, if Loop4 on/off or Delay on/off will be set to global, the setting will not change when I change between patches.

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

+1 on the routing so you can put the mod after the delay, or having a modulated delay to get those U2 sounds nailed. Our engineer has the D two in his rack and the chorused delay on that is unbelievable!
I would also like to see the facility to send more than one cc message with one pedal press.
Would it be possible, within a preset to toggle between say two different modulation effects. I like to use the gsystem like a glorified stomp box and this would be very useful. It can be done on the Boss GTpro. Obviously you wouldnt be able to use both fx at once (too much processing) but if the patch can 'recall' settings on say a flanger and a chorus effect then it should be easy enough to switch between the two?

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

I submitted this idea a while ago to the support team - The ability to save global input settings to serve different guitars with different pickups, so you can call up a pre-saved named input setting for single coil or humbucking guitar ect. i realise there are ways round this ie use the boost to attenuate the level, i think this would be a valued feature to the g-system.

This is cool! I have this problem too, my PRS is about the double as loud than my strat, so i can't use the two guitars in the same gig anymore sad

+1 on this one too. I use a few guitars during a gig and this would be very handy

VOLUME SWELL in the filters section!!!

(akin to the boss slow gear, byoc lazy sprocket, guyatone sv2, line6 pod volume swell, line6 dl4 swell, and many others... it would be VERY usefull)

Ya, I'd like the volume swell and rotary put internal, not only to free up the space on the board and ditch the need for an extra stompbox, but to free up the insert loop!

I need the loop free for my ISP Decimator, since I really really really don't like the TC noise gate (finding it difficult to program and effectively implement), and where my Decimator cuts off my delays and reverbs a bit where it currently lies in my chain.

Ability to mimic a Univibe.

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

I have mesa boogie 2 90 power amp with 3 voicings...i was dissapointed to find that i couldn't set up 3 relays in a single patch to change the 3 voicings on the power amp..i know i can set up different patches but i was looking for maximum sound possibilities from each patch..otherwise the pedal is great..i use everything in it like the boost and the gate..i use the filter as a hi pass filter like turning down the tone a little..i punch that in on hi notes..have it set like using a .022 microfarad capacitor for gibson type sound..i have a strat..

man, i don't understand this... really

I bought a Decimator and have it running with my G-system connected though an Ebtech line level shifter to my Soldano SLO 100 via the 4 cable method. Essentially the Decimator in in the amps loop currently. Does the Decimator function well in a G-system loop? I don't have any problems with delay or reverb but using a G-system loop would simplify the connections.

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

My g system came with a sheet of stickers for sticking on it if you reassign buttons...is mine the only one where tuner is spelt turner...this might be worth money in years to come...

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

+1 on the volume swell and synth type sounds.  There are songs where I need to mimic keyboard parts and while I don't expect my guitar to sound like a keyboard, there are other effects out there that do this type of thing.

Also, would be nice to place effects in any order before or after the preamp insert as well as being able to put the analog loops in any point in the path.

Yeah, it would be nice, but you have to consider that loops are hardware wired after the pre section and before the delays/mod section. So i think routing them freely would mean TC should develop a new Hardware... maybe Tore can clarify this

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

I have had my g sytem for about 1 1/2 years....what does everyone use to transport their system? I throw my footboard in a BIG bag...the unit is in my rack-wondering about any possible plans for some type of carrying case/bag(unless there is already something...)

Re: G-System Feature Ideas and Requests

Just tried the decimator g in one of the G-system loops and it was no where near as effective as when it is patched into the amps loop.

Same for me.

My fuzz pedals (Sun Face and Fuzz factory) sound radically better when connected _before_ the gsystem than when connected via the loops (A/B test with none of the gsystem effects engaged).  The fuzz factory in particular actually loses some of its features such as oscillation when connected via the loops.

I'm guessing that the problem has to do with the architecture (A/D-D/A conversions before the loops) so I'm assuming that it is not possible to address this via a firmware update.  I'd love to hear that that assumption is wrong though :-)   TC?

I'm a newbie so I havent fully got to grips with the gsystem yet, but Im getting a better sound so far by inputting my guitar into the return of loop 1 . That way I can still use the remaining loops, whilst bypassing the first set of A/D D/A converters. Im hoping to get the rest sorted so I can input the guitar right at the front of the Gsys, but I havent got it nailed yet.

So you're not using the onboard wah and comp modules?
