Re: Post Your Nova System Setup

UPDATE to my old post here - finally got a good pic of the Nova with the Mesa Boogie DC-5

The board itself fits into an old (circa 1974) hardshell suitcase that I picked up in a thrift store for $6. The case holds all my cords, DI box, Mics, and extra batteries/strings/etc. and NOBODY wants to steal that ugly thing (lol)

The stompboxes: Boss TU-2 tuner, Mesa Channel switch, and Boss V-Wah. That silver tube is a flashlight.

Don't mind all the blue tape - that's how I mark my gear for easy packing up at the end of the night (we all have different colored tape on our cords to make it easy to sort out). I can write on the tape & it's easier to see what the knobs do that way (the text is tiny, hard to read in a dark room)

Re: Post Your Nova System Setup

hi there

I use mine in the loop of a suhr badger 30 - great amp btw- together with the nice mxr carbon copy analog delay!

peadals front amp (at the moment, i change them a lot...): tc polytune, tc mojomojo overdrive, zvex distortron, fuzzfactory-like but no name fuzz pedal, a boost. yes and what goes into those drive pedals is a fender tele or sometimes a fender strat. that's it!

Hey, Andy! smile

Nice setup! smile I wanted to ask about Mojomojo Overdrive pedal in your setup. How does it compare with drive section of Nova System? I do not have any yet, but have been thinking about Mojo for some time. Could you tell me your thoughts about it, please? I am just wondering if that is "a must" or the drive section/distortion of Nova System is mostly enough? Thank you!

Hey racer the nova will do just fine ,i use only the nova and a wah, the rest you do not really need, but still nice to have around

just gessing, but i think if you put in in the loop you need some drive pedals. if not dive in the nova, i found that less drive is more ...............

Re: Post Your Nova System Setup

hi racer_x

as guitarfreakrob said, if you put the nova in the loop of your amp, you're gonna want some drive pedals in addition (depending on your amp-channels and your needs of course).

the mojomojo is indeed comparable to the drive on the nova. but the active bass/treble control give you a bit more to play with. I guess you could achieve similar results using the novas eq which is also quite powerful. and  I also like the added headroom of the mojomojo when working with a 12v power supply! I use it for solos or some of the rare rough parts. I like that it has really guts in the lower bandwiths (brown sound), perfect for a single coil equipped guitar!

other than that I use the DISTORTRON more like a second amp-channel, since the suhr badger is a single channel amp. and then I need just one very tortured sound which  I get from the golden fuzz pedal... wink

hope I could give you an idea of how it works for me!
I'd give it some time with the nova drive and see whether it works for you before you buy other pedals!

cheers & much fun with the nova!

Re: Post Your Nova System Setup

I thought about time I posted my board. Its a bit of a monster but I love it. Notice my TU2 hidden so I can still tune in bright sunlight at big out door gigs.
I use the gigrig pro14 bottom line to send midi signals to my JVM and the top line to send signals to the Nova system. It works great with minimal tone loss.
Cheers
