It depends. If you amp is CLEAN, line a Fender Twin or Deluxe Reverb, then it all good. If you intend to push the amp into distortion (like a Fender Bassman 4x10 which when pushed hard breaks up nicely) or if you intend to use distortion channels on the amp (like Marshalls or Fender Supersonic Burn channel, for example), then it doesn't work so well.
Taking effects like chorus and especially reverb and then distorting them (when using amp distortions) almost always sounds bad: distorted reverb is awful; But if you're using a clean channel, then it all works fine.
To me, that's a big deficiency of the Nova: you can't separate the Nova Drives from the effects and put them where you want. But I guess that's what the G-System is for.
