Of course this was played with the amp volume on 10 and gain on about 5... Yes it was loud. Perhaps turning your amp volume louder will affect your fx send output as well?
Depends if the "master volume" on your amp is ACTUALLY an "inside the power amp" master volume or just a glorified "preamp output level." The former will have no impact on the signal level entering the FX loop, since the control comes after the loop in the power amp section of the amp. The latter, however, is another story, since the loop will be after that.
